Your first visit to Dr. Misco's dental practice involves a few special steps so that we can get to know you. To understand what to expect, please read through this page. You'll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, practice hours, payment policies and more.

As a practice, we are true believers that preventive care and education are the keys to optimal dental health.  We strive to provide “ dental health care ” vs. “ disease care ”. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer screenings, and taking x-rays when necessary.  We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease.  Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health.  A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health. Please be sure to inform us of any changes.

Uncompromising Safety

Infection control in our office is also very important to us.  To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

What to Expect
The First Appointment

At your first visit a comprehensive examination of your entire mouth will be done, both a visual exam and an exam utilizing digital x-rays.  This will allow the doctors to gather very important information to accurately assess your dental needs.  We hope you see the benefit of having a thourough and complete exam and agree it is time and money well spent.

If approrpriate we will begin with your oral hygiene treatment.  Depending on your oral health, your teeth will be professionally cleaned by a licensed dental hygineist who is dedicated to preserving your smile for a lifetime. Specific approaches will be recommended for your individual needs, not all cleanings are the same.

Following your oral hygiene treatment the doctor will discuss in depth your needs and outline your dental evaluation and plan for treatment.  Immediate needs and long term objectives will be outlined.  You will be given multiple options and have ample opporutunity to discuss your treatment and have questions answered.  Our recommendations will always be in the best interest of you, the patient!

Our financial coordinator will provide a written plan for your individualized treatment and discuss your financial responsiblity.  Our office goes to great lengths to try to accurately estimate any insurance coverage you may have.  Please feel free to discuss your finances openly so we can help you achieve your dental goals.   We will be sensitive to your financial circumstances within the framework of sound business practices.

A word about Dental Insurance

We participate with many dental insurance plans and as a courtesy we will submit all claims for you. Your insurance policy is a contract between you or your employer and your insurance carrier, so we expect you to be interactive with your insurance plan and be responsible for understanding your insurance benefits. In this regard we offer the folloing:

1. We do our best to caluculate your estimated financial responsibiliy through utilizing our sophistacated insurance systems.

2. Your estimated patient financial responsibility is expected at the time of service.  In the event your insurance does not cover a service we provided or if there is a balance after your insurance has made final payment, you are responsible for the remaining account balance.

Missed appointments and Last Minute Cancellations

Your appointment time has been reserved specifically for you. We request a minimum of 48 hours notice before cancelling or rescheduling an appointment.  We reserve the right to charge your account $50 if we are not at least notified within 24 hours before your appointment.  We urge our patients to utilize our text and email based confirmation service.  In addition, we also do courtesy calls 2 days prior to your scheduled date.
